1070 h 5-cells stacks with CSC LSM based anode

A stack developed by the company Topsoe Fuel Cell was tested in the electrolysis mode. The stack integrated cathode supported cells based on LSM oxygen electrode developed by Risoe-DTU. The inlet gas composition was 90 vol. % steam/ 10 vol. % H2 and steam-to-hydrogen conversion rates was between 40 and 60 %. The stack was operated during more than 2600 hours under current densities between -0.4 and -0.8 A/cm2. Cell passivation was observed during the first days of the test followed by a slower activation period of around 700 h which depended on the cell position in the stack. Voltage degradation was about 3% per 1000 h operation.
